FBC of Cornelia to Host 2nd Annual MOSAIC Arts Camp

First Baptist Church of Cornelia will host a week-long summer arts camp for children entering first through those entering sixth grades June 22-26. This is the second year FBC has given this wonderful opportunity to children interested in learning more about the world of art through creativity.

FBC has provided this creative opportunity for children who wish to explore and develop their creative interests. The camp began with an idea in the mind of the church pastor but quickly spread into the hearts of the entire church congregation. Wide-spread support assures every child involved of an enriching experience. The name MOSAIC was chosen to summarize this experience: “Mentoring Our Students Artistically In Christ.”

The planning of this summer’s event began early this year to ensure the best possible opportunities for those participating. A wide range of artistic classes will be offered: story-telling, drama, dance, vocal, music, guitar and recorder, pottery, photography and art. The camp director, Donna Trotter, has a professional background in dance instruction. All staff members have wide-ranging education in their particular classes. Just as important, each has a passion to offer instruction to our communities’ children. Adult staff will be assisted by talented student volunteers.

Class enrollment will be kept to manageable numbers so that every child will receive individual attention and guidance. Students will be given the opportunity to enroll in their favorite classes to the limits of the camp’s ability. All students are encouraged to explore a class that will be new to them as well.

Due to the generous support from the church congregation the camp will be able to send home all works at the end of the week as well as supplies for further exploration. Each day will conclude with a working experience presented by an accomplished local artist. The theme of this years’ camp is “Whatever you do, do it for the glory of God!” Each student will be shown that all creative gifts can and should be used to express gratitude to God and to inspire others to do the same.

To register your child or for more information, contact Donna Trotter at 706-778-2893 or pick up a registration form in the FBC office. Classes are chosen on the registration form and the cost is $25. Scholarships will be available on a needs basis. The class sizes are limited and will be filled in order of receipt of the form, so register ASAP. Email us at fbcmosaic@gmail.com.
